Department of Microbiology “Annual Get-together and Microbiology Awards-2017”

The Department of Microbiology, Abdul Wali Khan University has organized Annual Get-together and Microbiology Awards event-2017. The students participated in a range of academic skits, dramas and speeches. Prof. Dr. Sultan Ayaz, Dean, faculty of Chemical and Life Sciences was the chief guest of the event. The guests have distributed awards in the category of students of the year, employee of the year, students of the semester, best community services, and coordinator extracurricular activities based on the popular and jury decision for their excellent performance during the academic year. Dr. Sultan Ayaz has appreciated the efforts of the organizers, faculty and students to make this event possible, and stressed to augment the frequency of such events in future for the motivation of students and employee. 

Lastly, Dr. Hazir Rahman, Chairman, Department of Microbiology, has mentioned about the current issue of space and laboratory; however in spite of some challenges, he shared an overview on the department achievements in 2017. He said that at the academic side, the Department has developed curriculum for BS, M.Phil and PhD and got NOC from HEC to launch M.Phil and PhD degree programs. On the research side, the faculty has published 35 publications with impact factor of more than 50. Beside this, the department has won two NRPU projects while submitted several to national and international funding agencies. He briefed the audience that the department has strengthened academic and research collaborations with universities and research institutes and is also actively involved to run community awareness and control campaign against infectious diseases in the colleges and schools. Dr. Hazir was glad to cite the event organizers and participants for organizing such a pleasant gathering on a brief notice.
