One-day
Seminar on “Women Entrepreneurship” was held on April 05, 2017 at Institute of
Business Studies & Leadership (IBL) Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. The
seminar was organized by Business Incubation Center AWKUM and IBL in
collaboration with Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry Mardan (WCCI). The theme of the seminar was “Young women as
job creators”. Ms Uzma Khankhel (General Secretary, WCCI) delivered a
comprehensive presentation about the role of WCCI Mardan in the region.
The
seminar provided female students with information about the benefits they can
draw from being entrepreneurs and motivated them to start up their own
businesses after graduating from the university. They received concrete
information and guidance about the process of setting up a company with
examples of women entrepreneurs of WCCI, acting as role models, who have
recently started their private businesses in Mardan. They motivated the female
students for entrepreneurship and analyzed the possibilities of their initial
business ideas. Miss Farzana Begum (Administrator, WCCI Mardan) assured to
provide full support to the female students for starting new business.
The
seminar was hailed by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Qadar Bakhsh Baloch (Director
Business Incubation Center AWKUM). Dr. Baloch stressed that while recent policy
reforms and initiatives are improving the business environment for small and
medium sized businesses and the importance of women’s contribution to economic
development in the region is increasingly recognized. Dr. Baloch highly
appreciated the efforts of the Coordinator BIC, Mr. Shah Hussain Awan and Gullaliey
Anum Khan (Faculty IBL) for organizing a successful and creative event for
female students.
