Dr.
Tahir Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology won SATHA
Innovation Award for the year 2017. Dr. Tahir Hussain received a certificate and
medal in recognition of his innovative and significant contribution towards prevention
of potential epidemics from multidrug-resistant bacteria. He received his award
from the SATHA president, and Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering
and Technology, Peshawar, during the 3rd SATHA Invention to
Innovation Summit of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa held in UET Peshawar on November 29-30,
2017.
SATHA Innovation Award is an international award by South
Asia Triple Helix Association. Each
year SATHA distributes awards among individuals from academia, industry and
social sector for their exceptional and outstanding contributions that bring
significant impact on human life. This year different
scientists from academia, industry as well as individuals from social sector
participated in the event and submitted their innovative proposals and
technologies to the Jury. The awards committee reviewed and selected top impact
making developments. Winners were rewarded in the ceremony for Annual
Innovation Awards during the SATHA Invention to Innovation Summit of
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa held in UET Peshawar.
Previously, Dr. Tahir Hussain was invited by the American
Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) during the AAAS Annual
Meeting held on February 16-20 in Boston, USA, to share his unique proposal on
devising sustainable solutions for containment of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
- which, according to WHO, is the greatest health security threat today.
