New Trends in Teaching and
Learning
Dr. Fida Mohammad, GIKI
Talk to be delivered on April
06, 2018 at AWKUM University
Over the past forty years or
so Psychologists, Sociologists, Anthropologists,
Evolutionary Biologists,
Linguists, Educationists, Neuroscientists, Philosophers, and Learning
theorists have studied the process of human learning.
They identified two main
problems:
Retention of what students learn
and engaging students in what teachers teach
1. They
recommend new teaching strategies to teachers which focus on how to in engage
in the materials being taught i.e
students pay attention to whatever they learn (distraction are suppressed)
2. They
suggest learning strategies to learners which are more efficient in learning
i.e students don’t forget easily what they learn i.e they retain their learning
for a longer time
3. In
my talk I will discuss the newer more effective strategies of teaching which
teachers can use to engage learners and enhance learning. Moreover, effective
ways of learning will also be discussed which are evidence-based and which
experts have found to help in the retention of learning.
