AWKUM Timergara Campus organized a Seminar on “Scope of Tourism in Dir Lower”


An exciting and meaningful seminar was held on 25/04/2018 at Timergara Campus, AWKUM. The seminar was themed as ‘The Scope of Tourism in Dir Lower’ and was a joint venture of Pak Army and Timergara Campus, AWKUM. A throng of dignitaries, government officials and local residents attended the event with zeal and zest. The seminar began with a welcome note by Mr. Minhaj-ud-Din, Coordinator Timergara Campus, who welcomed all the guests who had come to attend the activity. He mentioned the necessity of such events which play an integral role in community mobilization and mass awareness regarding the issues of vital interest.

On this occasion, the speakers stressed the importance of tourism in an area which has so continuously suffered at the hands of terrorist. Dr. Qadir Bakhsh Baloch, Director IBL, AWKUM, highlighted the importance of tourism in the economy of a nation and provided enlightening insights on the potential growth of tourism in Dir. Samar khan, world famous cyclist, also a resident of Dir, was another speaker. She pointed out practical guide lines for the promotion of tourism in her speech. Mr. Ijaz Khan, Curator Museum, AWKUM, graced the occasion with his meaningful suggestions on the improvement of tourism and its importance in the well being of the residents of a locality. Mr. Hayatullah, General Manager, Tourism Department KPK, and Mr. Shahbaz Khan, Deputy Director Culture & Tourism KPK, also addressed the audience and gave meaningful suggestions on the promotion of tourism in Dir lower. Lastly, the commandant DTF, Col Shahzad Amir,  in his final remarks, thanked the coordinator and faculty for their cooperation and support which made the whole venture a success.

At the end, all guests visited and appreciated different stalls which had been arranged for the promotion of cultural and social image of the vicinity.
